Kauai Part 4: Hiking

I hiked 11 3/8 (that's a fraction 3/8, not 113 divided by 8) miles to the Napali Coast. At first it didn't look that much different than back home.

There were pretty flowers. I liked these because there were so many colors in one group.
Several miles in, after lots of slippery downhills and turns, I reached the first viewpoint.
Films like Jurassic Park were filmed on Kauai and feature views like this. Instead of dinosaurs, I saw a mountain goat.
Don't go past here. You will fall off the cliff.

After walking along the cliff for a few miles to the second viewpoint, I was joined by a couple of birds.

It wasn't too hot since I was high in elevation.

See? What did I tell you about falling off the cliff?
It was definitely worth the hike.

Kauai Part 3: Sightseeing

I headed to Wai'ale'ale and Waimea Canyon for some sightseeing.
Actually those are chickens. They are everywhere on the island. Right. This is a picture of a sign. All the views of Wai'ale'ale were covered in fog, which would dissipate slightly and then return before you could snap a picture. That's why all you get to see is a sign.
I think this is some sort of missile detector or something.

In person (or probably in a photo taken by a good photographer with a good camera) you can see the ocean in the background.

Kauai Part 2: BearDog and Cookie Monster

BearDog and Cookie Monster plan their Kauai trip!

BearDog and Cookie Monster check out Hawaii at the airport.
BearDog and Cookie Monster hike to the Napali Coast.
Don't eat the sign, Cookie Monster!

BearDog and Cookie Monster sadly pack their belongings for the trip back home.

Kauai Part 1: Beaches

Hawaii has many very nice beaches. I tested three of them. The first one had a turtle.

I stayed on this beach on the east shore until I had to go to the airport to leave.

I ponder on the south shore.

Surfers surf.
